Welcome to The Book Hook Podcast!
Plus, cool stuff with Bianca Marais, Laura R. Samotin, and Lauren Puckett-Pope.
Hello, Book Pals!
Yep, you got it - I’m starting a podcast!
It’s been almost a year since I started doing Instagram Lives with my favourite authors and the coolest book people. I’ve had the chance to chat with some awesome writers, asking them all my own burning questions and genuinely connecting with authors in my orbit.
But that’s the thing — They’re in my orbit.
So, I asked myself, how can I expand this orbit? Instagram only offers a limited audience with an even more limited range of conversations, platforms, and opportunities.
Starting this September, The Book Hook Podcast will go live with author interviews, chats with industry experts, and BookTok and Bookstagram influencers.
Check out this sneak peek of my conversation with ELLE’s staff culture writer, Lauren Puckett-Pope.
Make sure you follow The Book Hook Podcast on Instagram, TikTok, Spotify, and YouTube.
Upcoming Events
I’m so jazzed to be joining Bianca Marais for the launch of her latest novel, A Most Puzzling Murder, out June 10th!
The literary soirée is bound to be the event of the season, with the coolest authors and industry folks, such as the hosts of The Shit No One Tells You About Writing, Cece Lyra and Carly Watters, authors Uzma Jalaluddin, Samantha M. Bailey, Kate Hilton and Elizabeth Renzetti, and many more in attendance. Get your tickets here.
On June 12th, make sure you join me over on Instagram as I go live with the voice of Violet Sorrengail herself, Khaya Fraites!
What I’m Reading…
Here’s what I’ve got on my nightstand:
Code Noir by Canisia Lubrin
Chrysalis by Anuja Vargese
Fuse by Hollay Ghadery
The Inadequate Heir by Danelle L. Jensen
Pacifique by Sarah L. Taggart
52 Ways to Reconcile: How to Walk With Indigenous Peoples On the Path to Healing by David A. Robertson
Have you read any of these? Let me know what you think!
The IG Live Author Series Keeps Going Strong!
This month, I was joined by Laura R. Samotin to chat about her duology, The Cursed Crown Duology. The books are set in a Jewish folklore-inspired reimagined world where two ex-husbands are pitted against each other in a civil war to fight for the crown of Novo-Svitsevo.
Want an even better experience with Cursed Corwn? Do an immersive read — listen to the audiobook and read along at the same time. You won’t regret it.
